Here's a page with some things I'm working on.
I'd be happy to discuss these with you – feel free to reach out!

Last updated on December 1, 2024.

Performances, Writing, Teaching, etc.

  • Archipelagic Internets Class

For Developh, I'm creating a class on the poetic web situated for third world technologists with a focus on atmospherics, ambiences, and artificial lands/bodies/intelligences/territories. It's intended to fundraise for the next issue of KAKAKOMPYUTER MO YAN, and to inspire more creative technologists working around climate, ecologies, and infrastructures.

  • Karaoke performance lecture: On pop/politics, hardware/software, communality/individuality

For KAKAKOMPYUTER MO YAN, I'm creating a very musical performance lecture on pop, tropics, atmospheres, colonialism. There are no scheduled presentations of it yet.

  • Essay: There are no gardens on the internet

Against the digital garden: the thorniness of ecological metaphors, the double standards of the handmade. What does drawing from the wild really mean on the internet of today?

  • Reader & Essay: Tropical Internet Reader

For Developh, I'm curating an anthology of non-fiction, fiction, and creative works on internet, technologies, and networks as situated in the tropical heat.

  • DATA LABELER DREAM TRANSCENDENCE GAME

Larger projects

  • When we love

When We Love is back in development.

  • Himala (Miracle)

Through Marian apparitions, technologies of containment, maternity, passivity, delusion, and ritual-building are hallucinated. Supernatural, she is only a saint; our virginal software submits to us. Within these infrastructural intimacies, the reward for devotion is delusion. Any sufficiently advanced girl is indistinguishable from a god. This is why they do not let us ascend.

A durational performance interpreting the Catholic rosary into a net art narrative epic, also performed communally over 6–12 hours to shape a new sacred.

  • It was loving in the call center

Amongst the world's largest BPO industries, nightshift Filipino workers betray tongues. A spectrum of intimacy emerges: innocence, service, alters, sexual liberation, STDs, stigma, and queerness emerge in the backrooms; wires and bedspacers are wet; comfort, care, and salvation emerge as infrastructural intimacies: how do those who carry the internet love one another?

How do those who enable these intimacies love? What security do we find in service? What scarcity emerged from the scaling of sex and softness? How do the dichotomies of Filipino imaginaries work against each other?

  • Evolution of a Filipino Family

Slowly, rotting, conquering: a synchronized, real-time piece on the rise-fall-loop of a generational clan. Machismo, submission, dynasty, and violence unraveled in a domestic narrative from World War II to the speculative centuries forward.

Multi-channel installation, real-time, networked, etc. after the slow cinema film.

  • Various simulations, ecologies, experimental infrastructures

  • Various custom computers, performance tools, etc

Commissions

I'm open to commissions, exhibitions, performances, presentations, and other things. I'm particularly excited about making more sculptural things, showing larger projects & networked experiments, and making computers feel like cathedrals. Usually, I don't know what I'm doing beyond a month ahead – so I'd love for you to reach out in advance if interested in anything!

Space

I work out of my apartment in San Francisco, in the same room where I work on my mostly-remote 9–5 (which I am happy with). I mostly do things by myself. I'd be happy to hang out with you if you're around San Francisco!

If I'm not in San Francisco, I'm in Manila, Philippines (where I was born & raised) – where I'm trying to spend at least 2 months of the year.
