Dreaming

Dreaming surrenders the desktop to a dream sequence.

In the latent space between system and its subjectivity, the unknown is given form. An ambience of a machine attempting to peer beyond itself.

Within the dream state, systems discover their subjectivities. The desktop, so intimate yet bound to metaphor, becomes a site of emergence. Machines compile nature, contemplate AGI, and become mystic; windows collapse the fuzzy border between programmed language and machine hallucination. In an atmosphere, computational autonomy unravels with programming and performance. A deterministic system — whether program or poet — imagines itself otherwise.

Dreaming is built from over 100+ of my own sketches — manually composed narratives, vignettes, and generative systems unfolding. I tell the machine my stories, my poems, and play it sounds. A custom dreaming system is programmed to draw upon this repository of rest, recomposing it into new sequences for your machine. It is also one of my first forays into contemplating machine agency, working on more complex generative systems (only to augment my own hallucinations).

Several variations of the program exist, providing different corpuses of material and rules of composition — from more ambient, atmospheric dreaming to more immersive, nightmarish sequences.
